I am working as a professor in ceramic art at Oslo National Academy of the Arts
For many years I have been head of the department. Now Ole Lislerud has taken over that job. When I started the school mainly educated designers for the ceramic industry.
We started very early to think that the need for this type of industrial designers would disappear in Norway and Europe. (And we don’t believe that for instance the Chinese will accept “our” design for so many years) Therefore we many years ago changed the goals for the ceramic department. We have become an education for ceramic artists and a part of the faculty of visual arts.
We are trying to develop two paths. The first one is the conventional. First you take a BA in ceramic art, then you go for the MA. The other way is to accept students from other art fields an offer them specialized clay art competence in a MA.
The Oslo National Academy of the Arts is a small school. We are educating students in very many different directions. If you look up www.khio.no you will find an English version of the program.
The staff is quite active in the art field both in Norway and abroad. So I would suggest that
you look for the teachers home pages.
Besides being a contemporary artist on the international arts scene, I have a special interest in research. You will find more about that in my CV
